Rauni Kew

Rauni Kew Inn by the Sea

Inn By The Sea Public Relations and Green Program Manager Rauni Kew discusses innovation in sustainable luxury.

Tourism and environmental sustainability are two subjects near and dear to the hearts of many Mainers. Perhaps nobody understands this better than Rauni Kew. As Public Relations and Green Program Manager for  the Inn By the Sea, one of Maine’s premier resort destinations, Kew has managed to successfully blend luxury with sustainability, earning national recognition for the Cape Elizabeth inn.

With changes both large (a multi-million dollar renovation) and small (the removal of all incandescent light bulbs), the Inn By The Sea has become a model of sustainable hospitality in Maine.

The Inn By The Sea makes a significant effort to reduce its footprint, making use of indigenous landscape, local and sustainable seafood, green building materials and habitat restoration efforts.

A Maine tourism industry veteran, Kew has served as the Greater Portland representative for the Maine Tourism Commission and Board Member on the Greater Portland Convention and Vistor’s Bureau.

In addition to her work at the Inn By The Sea, she also handles public relations for The Maine Innkeepers Association, a leading provider of information and support to the lodging and tourism industry of Maine. Kew is a frequent speaker on the topic of sustainability.

Will Ethridge

Will Ethridge

Portland Downtown District Events and Marketing Manager Will Ethridge talks about upcoming events, including the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting, Shop for a Cause Day and Merry Madness.

As Events and Marketing Manager for Portland’s Downtown District, Will Ethridge helps plan, coordinate and execute some of southern Maine’s most popular events and attractions.

Portland’s Downtown District (PDD) was established in 1992 and is a not-for-profit organization. PDD acts as a leader and facilitator in the support and promotion of the economic vitality of downtown Portland and is funded by a tax assessment on properties within the boundaries of the District.

A graduate of University of Southern Maine’s Muskie School of Public Service with a Masters in public policy and management, Ethridge has a strong interest in community development through the arts, and now finds himself in a position to promote Portland through events and cultural activities.

Beyond his general marketing duties, Ethridge is also responsible for planning and organizing all of Portland’s downtown events, including the upcoming holiday schedule and the Old Port Festival in the summer.

Dr. Jeff Brown

Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Jeff Brown is a champion of cognitive-behavioral psychology.

Cold weather and gray autumn days got you feeling down? We enlisted the enlightening services of Harvard Medical School’s Dr. Jeff Brown to talk about how to apply research-based strategies to fine tune our brains and optimize life. Board-certified in both clinical and cognitive behavioral psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology, Dr. Brown offers some valuable insight on the power of an affirmative mental state.

In our conversation with Dr. Brown, he highlights the importance of positive thought and believing in one’s own capabilities to achieve peak performance. We find out the importance of not judging ourselves based on the accomplishments of others, but rather setting one’s own goals and attaining them through a positive thought process. He is author of a new book, “Chicken Soup for the Soul: Think Positive for Great Health: Use Your Mind to Promote Your Own Healing and Wellness.”
