March 10 show to feature business executive Dennis Carey, Shipyard Brewing Company President Fred Forsley and Maine outdoor recreation gurus Russell Walters and Dave Herring

PORTLAND, Maine — March 9, 2012  The producers of TideSmart Talk with Stevoe, a national weekly radio show that takes a macro approach towards society and culture, sports, healthy living and green living have announced the show’s next guests will be renowned business executive Dennis Carey, Shipyard Brewing Company President Fred Forsley, Northern Outdoors President Russell Walters and Maine Huts & Trails Executive Director Dave Herring.  The episode airs March 10 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on News Talk WLOB 1310 AM radio.

TideSmart Talk with Stevoe host Steve Woods (Stevoe) will be joined in studio by Walters and Herring to talk Maine outdoor recreation in the first hour.

Russell Walters

Russell WaltersWalters has more than 30 years of experience in the adventure industry and he is currently president of Northern Outdoors, a four-season adventure resort in western Maine.

Walters also currently serves on the Maine Tourism Commission, and was just elected Chair of the Maine Sports Commission.

Prior to becoming president of Northern Outdoors, Walters served a four-year term as general manger for California-based O.A.R.S., provider of whitewater rafting adventure travel vacations.

Walters is also a former advisory board member of Adventure Travel Trade Association.

Dave Herring

Dave HerringHe will be joined by Dave Herring, Executive Director of Maine Huts & Trails, a nonprofit organization with three backcountry eco-lodges in western Maine and 45 miles of trails.

Herring has secured the rights to more than 100 potential miles of trail, and 1,000 acres for public access. Herring is always working to establish connections and new trails, and said he loves the dynamic nature of his job.

He raised $8.5 million without an existing donor base and has established a great reputation with the government and community in Maine. More than 3,000 young Mainers have used the trails so far. Herring has also been a guest lecturer at several Maine colleges.

He was recently honored by Maine Today Media as one of Maine’s Forty Under 40.

Dennis Carey

In the show’s second hour, Stevoe will be joined in studio by renowned business executive Dennis Carey, who has held senior-level positions at multiple Fortune 100 companies.

Carey spent more than 20 years at GE where he became Vice President and CFO of GE Appliances. Carey later served as CFO of The Home Depot.  In 2002, Carey became CEO of 8 Motorola businesses, overseeing $2.7 billion in revenue.

In addition to leading these businesses, Carey also served on numerous corporate boards and national non-profit boards including Urban League and First Robotics.

A native of Rumford, Maine, Carey attended the University of Maine’s business school, and he currently serves on several of the university’s advisory boards.

Fred Forsley

Fred ForsleyStevoe continues the business talk in an interview with entrepreneur Fred Forsley, President of Shipyard Brewing Company.  Forsley grew Shipyard out of the Kennebunkport Brewing Company and Federal Jack’s Restaurant and Brew Pub into one of the largest microbreweries in the country.

Forsley has been involved in a number of business startups involving real estate development, recycling, health care, direct response marketing, and the food and beverage industry.

Forsley is also president of the Maine Brewers Guild, a non-profit corporation dedicated to promoting the craft brewed industry in Maine.
